Focused on You: Insights from the ICF Iowa Board Retreat

I wanted to share a little about our recent ICF Iowa Board planning retreat, which took place just over a week ago. It was a significant occasion, as it was the first time many of us on the board had the opportunity to meet in person. While our monthly Zoom meetings are valuable, being together in person allowed for a different level of collaboration and connection. We spent the day sharing our perspectives on coaching and brainstorming ways we can better serve each of you, our valued members. It was a truly special and productive time.
Our Vice President, Chris King, led us through a particularly insightful activity focused on identifying the top challenges facing our chapter. This involved thoughtful discussions around various aspects of ICF Iowa, including understanding who our key stakeholders and influencers are and envisioning what we want to achieve over the next year. The process was engaging and provided us with a clearer understanding of our current landscape and future possibilities.
Through this exercise, we identified Member Engagement as our greatest challenge. We recognize that there are many contributing factors to this, ranging from busy schedules to the crucial aspect of ensuring you find significant value in your membership with ICF Iowa. We also understand there are likely other reasons, and we want to gain a deeper understanding of these.
Therefore, in the coming months, we plan to continue this important conversation and actively seek your feedback on how we can enhance your membership experience. Our chapter's strength is directly tied to the engagement and participation of our members. We are genuinely looking forward to hearing from you and learning how we can better add value to your professional journey, strengthen your connection with the coaching community in Iowa, and enhance the offerings of ICF Iowa.
