MAY your month be filled with beauty, wonderful Coaches!
May brings beautiful things.
It starts off with “May Day”, the fun kid’s tradition of living little baskets of surprises on the neighbor’s doorstep. As May continues, the pop of color is everywhere as garden centers fill up with reds, pinks, purples, and yellow flowers. Mother’s Day reminds us of the wonderful women who have nurtured us through life. Graduation celebrations bring beautiful transitions and reflections of well-earned accomplishments. We conclude May with the memories of those who serve, affording us a beautiful life of freedom. Yes, May is filled with beauty.
As Coaches, we know “the lens we look through” is of paramount importance. Do you see beauty around you? I once went on a retreat where it included a “day of beauty”. We did various activities, went to interesting places, and found beauty in the stillness. The challenge of the exercise was to find as many things of beauty that we encountered through the day and write them in our journal. It was a very meaningful day.
In today’s world there is always darkness that can pull us in. There is darkness that surrounds our clients. Sometimes we help our clients change the filter on the lens they are looking through. But it starts with us. As Coaches, we need to see differently. We need to be intentional to look for beauty in our lives and in the world. That is not to say we look through rose colored glasses because sometimes there is beauty in the muck too. Sometimes we need to slow down because we are moving too fast and we miss what is right in front of us. We need to stop and smell the roses.
During the month of May, challenge yourself on your “lens of beauty”. Consider your senses. What beautiful things are you seeing, smelling, tasting, hearing, touching? Then reflect on the beauty that surrounds your life.
It is all perspective. Make it a beautiful MAY!
Sincerely,
