Chapter Mid-year Reflection:
Looking Back, Looking Ahead, Living in the Present

Hello wonderful Coaches.

Can you believe we are midway into the year?!  What a great time to look back, be present and look ahead.  As a member of ICF Iowa Board, I thought I would use this opportunity to reflect on where we are as a Charter Chapter.

Looking Back…..
Your ICF Iowa Board has been hard at work delivering value to our members.  Thanks to the efforts by our Programs Director, Priscilla Boyle, we have held some wonderful programs in the first half of the year.   In January, Lisa Edwards shared “3 Ways to Make Clients Want to Invest with You” through determining your ROI and building your business credibility.  In February, Deb Calvert spoke on “Questions That Get You Connected for High Value Coaching”. In April, we transitioned to Tuesday meetings, Jodee Gibson shared her expertise in “How Words Work”, a holistic program centered in NLP and Neuroscience.  In May, three of our Board Members – Priscilla Boyle, Melissa Johnson and Marva Becker led our Chapter in a “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Cultural Competency in Coaching”.

In addition to formal programs, we also know our members desire networking.  This spring, we hosted in-person networking events in both Eastern Iowa and Central Iowa.  Also, every Monday morning at 8:30 A.M., Lisa Brovold hosts a virtual Monday Morning Coaches connection meetings, promoting an informal opportunity for Coaches to grow and network together. This spring, Lisa brought in ICF Iowa member Suzanne Ryan to speak on “Money Mindset”.  And finally, Erin Lego has connected our new members though a monthly on-boarding program.

Based on what members are looking for, we have offered a blend of coaching programs, business building opportunities, and networking. If you’ve missed any of our great programs, there is good news.  All of the program recordings can be found on our website (you have to be logged in to view).  Looking back, it’s been a great first half of the year!

Living in the Present….
Ah summer, isn’t it wonderful.  A time to have fun, relax and make great memories.  In our Chapter, we are spending the summer doing just that.

In June, Barb Ranck held our first virtual networking event where we discussed “High, Low, Buffalo” and we carried that theme into the evening when Erin Lego hosted an in-person evening networking event at Back Pocket in Johnston, Iowa.  We repeated “High, Low, Buffalo” and laughed a bit too!

Next up for the summer, a morning picnic event on July 18, 2023 with Mosaic (serving Adults with Disabilities) and another virtual networking event on August 8, 2023 from noon – 1 P.M. CST hosted by Melissa Johnson.

Looking ahead…..
Of course, we are planning to take the fall by storm and have some great programs on the horizon!

On Tuesday, September 12, 2023 “A Coaches Roadmap to Rapid Growth” and on Tuesday, October 10, 2023  “A Coach’s Journey to Ethical Maturity”.  Then mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 14, 2023 for our State of the Chapter Celebration.  Also, don’t miss our Holiday parties scheduled in Eastern Iowa on December 7, 2023 and December 12, 2023 in Central Iowa.

Additionally, we have ongoing dreams!  Dick Hannasch is evaluating ways we can continue to give back to our communities through Coaching.  Erin Lego is evaluating ways we can support internal Coaches within organizations.  My personal passion is finding ways to partner with other Chapters and practice competencies through demonstrations and practice.

Yes, a lot of great energy found at ICF Iowa in 2023.  And, we need you!

As we transition into 2024, we want to continue this momentum.  We are looking for members who want to get involved.  Would you be interested in serving on our Board?  How about a Committee?  Please consider this and reach out to Dick Hannasch for more details.

So…. As we look back, much has been done.  As we look forward, good things are to come.  As we live in this moment, we want you to know…..we are grateful for you!

Use the summer to bring good energy to your life.  Laugh, be loud, be quiet, be reflective.  Find joy in the big things and the little things.  Make great memories. Make great impact.  Make each moment meaningful.  You will never have the summer of 2023 to do again so make it count!  Blessing to all our ICF Iowa Coaches.

Warmly,
Dorene MacVey
President, ICF Iowa Chapter
