Hello ICF Iowa Coaches and Happy end of Summer!
I hope this letter finds you grateful for all things blooming this summer! Also, I hope this finds you rejuvenated and ready to transition into Fall.
Before entering the new season, consider how you have radiated brightly this summer. What have been some of your favorite memories? What brings a smile to your face as you think back on memories made in the Summer 2023?
For me personally, I dubbed this my “Summer of Love” with a calendar full of weddings. As I write, I am heading off to another pretty important one, as we watch our daughter walk down the aisle. Yes, LOVE is the best energy force and I have enjoyed witnessing all of it!
I have also enjoyed my summer at ICF Iowa networking events, both on-line and in-person and hosting BINGO Palooza at our ICF Iowa MOSAIC picnic. Both left me smiling and enjoying time with wonderful people.
Finally, the summer was filled with some “interesting” memories…. like our salsa garden that produced rotten tomatoes, a pontoon boat ride in the rain, and attending the State Fair -- where pretty much everything seemed “interesting” to me. For nostalgia, my husband and I even rode the $13.00 tilt-a-whirl ride. Wow, fun has gotten expensive.
Looking forward, I am ready to turn the calendar and see what beauty Fall brings. I am excited to be slowing down my travel schedule and be home a little more….we’ll see how long that lasts! I love football season and look forward to cheering on our Ohio State Buckeyes (Sorry Iowa/Iowa State fans…..nothing personal).
I also look forward to getting back in the swing of things at ICF Iowa as we prepare for our Chapter’s Fall retreat in October. We also have some great programs coming up in September and October. You don’t want to miss them! Then come have some fun with us in November as we conduct our virtual State of the Chapter meeting and our signature Holiday Parties in December (Yeiks, that’s right around the corner!).
We continue to look for new ways to engage with our communities this Fall. We are partnering with One Iowa to launch ICF Iowa’s first Ignite project. With deep gratitude to Dick Hannasch for leading this effort. I love our Chapter’s focus to give back through Coaching.
So let’s get ready for some exciting times….but before we do, let’s take a moment to be thankful. For where we’ve been, where we are, and where we are going.
With much gratitude and great energy,
Dorene MacVey
