Marni Hockenberg is owner of Hockenberg Search, an Iowa based Outplacement and Career Transition Coaching business. As a former Retained Executive Search professional, Marni has placed hundreds of talented people in the right career and has partnered with business owners in all industries for their professional outplacement needs.
Her career transition coaching clients benefit from her ‘on the ground’ knowledge of the employment market, vast experience with preparing candidates to land the right job by interviewing well to obtain a solid offer and ‘door-opening’ introductions to key business leaders.
Marni’s clients learn that job search is a sales and marketing function, where they are the product and the salesperson, bringing themselves to market. Her project-based coaching is personalized to the unique situation of each client. She works with recent college graduates, mid-career professionals who are stuck in their current job, all the way to C-Suite Executives who suddenly find themselves facing an uphill re-employment struggle in a competitive job market. Due to Marni’s unique experience as a recruiter, she knows first-hand how the seller (job seeker) needs to sell, and how the buyer (hiring managers) makes hiring buying decisions. Her clients have a distinct advantage over their competition in the hiring process.
Marni relocated in 2020 to her hometown of Des Moines after decades of contributing to the Twin Cities business community where in 2016 she was awarded ‘The Real Power 50’ Power Players of the business community by the Minnesota Business Magazine.
As a local and national speaker, she is sought out as a keynote, facilitator, panel moderator, panelist, and expert commentator on hiring and employment-related issues.
Marni Hockenberg is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology.
